Dutchworks is all about building the right software solutions for our customers. We do not believe in a single silver bullet technology that fits all, but prefer custom designed & built solutions around existing, open source components. This ensures that your software system is extremely well positioned to meet your business requirements for many years to come.

Choosing the right technologies and products to build those solutions is a vital part of every project we undertake. At the beginning of each of our projects, we determine the right set of tools. Open Source

At Dutchworks we believe in the use of open source software purely because we feel it offers high quality and rich features. The key success factor for this is that there is a vibrant community for the open source initiative. That is why Dutchworks not only uses open source software, but also contributes back to the community. This is done by sending code patches, becoming committers to various communities, but also by blogging about our experiences, writing and reviewing books and organizing and speaking at conferences.

For our customers this means that we offer much more than just using open source for their projects (which typically means no licensing costs). We can simply say we know the product inside out and actively contribute to its development, which means we know where the project is going and can actually influence it and have access to the code and community if an issue arises. Furthermore, we try to get the developed extensions and modifications as part of our projects contributed to the specific open source project. This will ensure that not our customers, but the entire community will maintain and enhance the code. Obviously, this is always done with consent of our customers.
